Japanese Language Programs

Training Course in Japanese Language and Japanese Culture

1. Objectives

  • (1) To acquire systematic Japanese language skills at an advanced level
  • (2) To acquire an accurate understanding of Japan and Japanese culture
  • (3) To acquire basic knowledge and research methods applicable to each student's field of specialization

2. Eligibility

Japanese government scholarship students (Japanese Language and Culture Trainees) who have been recommended by embassies and universities, or students who have been accepted into short-term exchange programs and have been specially recognized by the embassy or university. Students who are majoring in Japanese Language, Japanese Linguistics, Japanese Language Education, or Japanese Studies (Japanese Research) at their home universities, have studied Japanese for at least two years, and have Japanese language proficiency at the N2 level or above on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

3. Annual Schedule

Fall Semester (Second Semester)

  • Beginning of October - End of December: Classes
  • End of December - Beginning of January: Winter break
  • Beginning of January - Beginning of February: Classes
  • Beginning of February - Beginning of April: Spring break

Spring Semester (First Semester)

  • Beginning of April - End of July: Classes
  • August: Summer break
  • September: Submission of final project
  • Mid-September: Graduation ceremony
